Learn Through Story Telling

My focus is to explore the world and human nature through sharing stories and inspiration. It is through talking about experiences and often putting things into a fictional context that we can learn to appreciate others and become a force for change. In many ways this blog is a story of my own queer becoming and evolution as a writer in the hope that sharing my own experiences can help support my wider community.

  • A march for something important
Sunday’s Pride March was another step in my evolving relationship with Pride events. Marches are a political act rooted in historical struggle, and therefore are different to other community events. In my mind it means I had to be at a place where I don’t just accept myself but get to a point where I can celebrate my identity and recognise the strength this gives me.
  • A different kind of boy
My 2026 contribution to The Pearl Prize anthology all about owning ones identity and reclaiming language. An empowering story about a Femboy fighting expectations and being uniquely true to himself.
  • Great bite sized horror reads from Cassandra Khaw
My continued exploration of horror has lead me to Cassandra Khaw’s two novellas. A pair of great reads that are quite different but equally worth exploring.
  • 2026 is going to be about finding some stability
The past year involved personal growth and new experiences despite challenges at work, parenting, and dysphoria. Moving forward into 2026, the focus will be on establishing routines and balancing writing, relationships, and finances. The goal is to create stability and work towards long-term aspirations, including surgery.
  • A much better travelling experience
After getting back from NZ I have been reflecting a little on my last experience while traveling to Bali. In Bali, I was constrained and faced ongoing misgendering, affecting my enjoyment. In contrast, my New Zealand trip, after starting HRT and gaining confidence, allowed for authentic self-expression and with support from my boyfriend, a more consistent and enjoyable experience.
  • Dear Queensland your conservative ideology is showing now more than ever.
In Queensland, a conservative government paused puberty blockers and gender-affirming care for new patients, facing criticism for prioritizing ideology over evidence. An independent review acknowledged limited evidence on treatments but highlighted potential benefits for mental health. Despite the advice for improved access, the government extended the ban, impacting vulnerable youth.
  • Any commune can hold dark secrets: Herculine review
In “Herculine” by Grace Byron, the unnamed narrator navigates life in New York, struggling with personal trauma and the challenges of trans identity. Seeking a fresh start at a commune, she confronts deeper issues of manipulation and supernatural threats. The novel blends supernatural horror with poignant themes, reflecting elements of trans experiences in an engaging read.
  • Latest from down under: Tragedy in Bondi
Our nation is hurting after the tragic events at Bondi as we deal with the worst mass shooting we have seen since Port Arthur. The government is clear in it’s response with tighter gun laws on the way but the on going impact on our communities is far from clear. Meanwhile there are people trying to use this tragedy for their own ends. So here is where it all stands.

The Product of A Curious Mind

Dream coding the self

I have always been a dreamer, imagining and finishing the stories I see around me. These moments of inspiration form the basis of my writing. Each poem and story drawing on something a bit different, some deeply personal while others are full of whimsy.

Living out loud

Engaging in the larger story of the world is a means of representation and expression. Using evidence to highlight the experiences of others to challenge misconceptions I strive for freedom and equality.

Library of Rebellion

Like everyone else I am continuing to learn from the stories of others. My review reflect those lessons and are a combination of literary critique and an exploration of ideas.
